5 Underrated Double Or Nothing Moments

AEW's big pay-per-view Double or Nothing is tomorrow night. This is the promotion's 7th incarnation of the event. And since it's one of the promotion's biggest, I started thinking about moments throughout the various events. More importantly minor moments, or moments not talked about enough. Of course everyone remembers Jon Moxley's debut in 2019, along with Cody and Dustin Rhode's emotional post match hug at that same event. Will Ospreay's championship win last year, and Orange Cassidy still holding onto his International championship in the Blackjack battle royal.

Let's refresh your memory on five moments, that are underrated.

5. Eras of Chris Jericho

In the grand scheme of things, this may not matter. However, for AEW's inaugural event and the fact Chris Jericho is known for consistently reinventing himself. His main event entrance which consisted of stand-in's representing his various persona's over the years was quite genius. It in my opinion, represented AEW looking to the past taking inspiration from it to create the future. Which the organization has done in it's 6 years of existence.

4.Sting First Live Match in 5 1/2 Years

In late 2020 Sting joined AEW and became a mentor/partner with Darby Allin. He participated in a cinematic match at Revolution in early 2021, but it was Double Or Nothing 2021 when he returned to a in-ring match in front of fan's. Partnering with Darby Allin against FTR, his first match in 5 1/2 years which did not disappoint. At then 62 year's old Sting he match his all, one of the highlights being jumping off one of the casino chip set pieces onto FTR. A moment that helped people remember why he is, the man they call Sting.

3.Kris Statlander returns and Defeats Jade Cargill

At 2023's event, Jade Cargill was still maintaining an undefeated streak, and holding the TBS Championship 508 days after winning it. After defeating Taya Valkyrie and successfully retaining the championship. Kris Statlander's music played and she made her return from a ACL injury to faceoff against Cargill. In under a minute, she defeated her to win the TBS championship and make her mark in the AEW women's division.

2. Adam Page wins Inaugural Casino Battle Royal Match

When it came to the Elite during the height of their popularity as a unit, it always seemed like Adam Page was just a beg below the rest of the group. However, everyone could sense that he was a rising star that just needed to be let loose. At the very first Double Or Nothing in 2019, Adam Page as a foundation of the promotion kicked into gear. When he won the inaugural Casino Battle Royal match, winning a AEW world championship match spot at All Out in September. Planting the seed's for him to be the top tier roster star he is today.

1. Punk wins AEW Championship

CM Punk's time in AEW has of course been overshadowed by the two high profile backstage tussles he was in. And the way he and the company have been petty with one another since he was fired from the company. None of that changes how he set the wrestling world on fire in August 2021 when he returned to a pro wrestling ring, after 7 years away. Then at Double Or Nothing in 2022, he defeated Adam Page to win his first and only AEW World Championship. Holding the world championship in every promotion he's ever stepped foot in, and assisting in helping AEW gain truly closer with stepping toe to toe with WWE.
