Last week ahead of TNA's Victory Road, Santino Marella conducted an interview with Lucha Libre Online. During his interview he made the claim the promotion is well on their way to being the #2 promotion in professional wrestling. And damnit he is right, TNA has been consistently producing amazing events and more fans are starting to notice.

From casuals to former TNA fans who washed their hands during the rough period of the 2010s. I have been a fan of this era of TNA since Scott D'Amore took over, here are 3 things besides a TV deal TNA needs to become the #2 promotion.

3. A Groundbreaking Storyline

First order of business is a Groundbreaking storyline. Something so innovative and never done before in the world of pro wrestling, that it would get people talking. Social Media, wrestling personalities, any and all fans who love the industry. Folks would have to tune in to see how it would play out and in turn TNA would hook them with other angles on the show(s). Essentially stealing thunder from AEW who often seems like they going through the motions.

Now, the question would be what is something in pro wrestling thats never been done before?

2. A Major Signing

In order to gain more casual eyeballs to the product, and letting people know TNA is forreal. They would have to pull off a major signing from WWE or AEW, to get people talking. One that would bring in viewers and get people talking.

Most of today's biggest stars are near the tail end of their careers, so they wouldnt be as effective. One name that comes to mind though is MJF. He's a big enough star and an AEW original that if he jumped ship to TNA. People would lose their minds!

1. Move On From WWE

TNA's partnership with WWE for the most part has been wonderful for the promotion. Miles better than their partnership with AEW a few years ago. It's convinced fans old and new to give this era of TNA a chance. While also giving members of their roster more exposure to those who remain in the WWE bubble. The promotion has also received much needed TV time for the masses. Let's not forget the partnership has turned Joe Hendry into a bigger star.

However when you look at the partnership, WWE is always going to throw their weight around and make sure their roster looks better. While slowly cherry picking talent from TNA's roster when they become free agents. Which could be determintal to TNA's brand, and eventually may have lead fans to believe TNA and NXT are one in the same.

So to truly grow as a promotion and become #2. TNA eventually will have to move on from WWE and become true competitors.
