Best Rap Entrance Themes
It's 50 year's of Hip-Hop, the music genre born in the mid-70's in the bronx. That shook up the world in the 80's, and became cultural phenomenon in the 90's, through the 2000's and 2010's to the present day. No matter how any naysayers try to slice it the Hip Hop culture is global and cannot be stopped.
Even in the world of professional wrestling, where there are several known unapologetic rappers who love wrestling (Snoop Dogg, Wale, Mega Ran, Action Bronson, Westside Gunn, Fabolous to name a few). In the world of modern wrestling that translates to rappers performing theme songs for wrestlers.
I'm sure there are some I missed, these entrance themes stood out to me for one reason or another. Anyway, here's a list of wrestler's entrances performed by rappers.
Orlando Jordan theme
Ok this theme song is essentially forgotten, since Orlando Jordan did not make much of an impact during his time in professional wrestling. No Limit legend Silkk The Shocker actually goes in on the mic for this theme song.
MVP Theme Song
MVP's theme song is another performed by Silkk The Shocker was crafted to make a statement for MVP. The opening piano medley was fire and it's easy to miss the lyrics watching a broadcast with commentators talking, crowd making noise and the music. However, the lyrics are actually very catchy and brilliant for a entrance theme.
Trish Stratus theme
Trish Stratus has used this entrance since the 2000's. It's performed by the Queen Bee herself Lil' Kim and has become synonymous with Trish Stratus throughout her career.
Hook Theme
I know who Action Bronson is, however I've never listened to any of his music. This song of his that AEW's Hook uses as his theme song. Fit's Hook to a t, it's to the point and kind of direct in letting folks know you are not one to play with. The beat has a gritty 90's vibe to it and when it all comes together for Hook's walk down the ramp it just works.
Big E theme
Wale is one of my favorite wrestlers, his early 2010s mixtapes and albums cannot be touched in my opinion. I still listen to the More About Nothing mixtape faithfully like it just released.
Anyway in 2020 when Big E was spilt from The New Day, he debuted a new theme song performed by Wale himself called Feel The Power. I will admit it took me a while to get use to the song, and the lyrics do hit. I just feel the beat just needed that extra umph.
D-Generation X King Of Rock theme
In early 2000 when the WWF was insanely popular due to the attitude era, they released a rap focused album called WWF Aggression. The highlight of that album was rap legends Run DMC rapping to a remixed D-Generation X beat. D-Generation X, usually Road Dogg and X-pac actually used this as their entrance music that year.
23 years later I will still turn my volume up to ignorant levels and bump this banger.
Shane McMahon Theme Song
Who would have thought that Shane McMahon the guy born with a silver spoon in his mouth, the one time perceived heir to the WWF throne. Would have a entrance song rapped by Hip Hop legends and New Jersey greats Naughty By Nature.
Yet it works and the song will get stuck in your head, and you will eventually find yourself doing the Shane McMahon shimmy.
Shawn Spears Theme Song
Oddities Theme Song
In the summer of 1998 Sable introduced a new stable known as The Oddities, along with them rap group The Insane Clown Posse (who I had never heard of at that time). ICP would lead the group to the ring rapping their theme song, and even wrestled with the group a few times.
This song was absolutely made with the gimmick of the oddities in mind. Doesn't matter because it has a infectious beat and you will find yourself bopping your head to this one.
Deadpool/Dark Carnival Theme Song
Once the WWF washed their hands of the Insane Clown Posse, they showed up in WCW a year later. Joining forces with Raven and Vampiro as a unit called DeadPool, Raven eventually left WCW and the group disbanded. Only to be return as The Dark Carnival in the summer of 2000 with Great Muta now a member of the ranks.
For both groups they used the same song, Take It. Out of the two songs, I prefer this one more. It's a fixture of my wrestling playlists and I even include it in my Halloween playlist. It has a sinister organ intro, and a perfect blend of rock and rap. This song despite how one may feel about ICP, absolutely slaps as the kids say.
Kurt Angle Gold Medal Theme
When Kurt Angle debuted in TNA he had essentially the same act, but it had to be presented slightly different. So, TNA graced them with one of their top 5 themes in the company's entire history as TNA/Impact Gold Medal.
The beat is fierce honestly and rapper Trademarc, who apparently is an older cousin of John Cena delivers some bars that just fits Kurt Angle. Not quitting, never letting up, always in the zone, and grinding. The song simply hits.
nWo WolfPac Theme
I've heard conflicting stories on whether C-Murder (brother of Master P and Silkk The Shocker) actually is the one rapping. In all honesty it probably doesn't matter, because once you hear the howl of a wolf you just start rapping the song. It's menacing and gets you hype, I've seen this song used first hand as walk up songs at baseball games.
The song itself is so fire, it made middle-aged white dudes cool when they walked out to. It is a classic amongst wrestling themes.
Mark Henry Theme
There are many, catchy wrestler theme songs over the years. There are some that when you hear it, you just feel how much it was made just for that wrestler. This song performed by rap group Three-six mafia was made just for Mark Henry.
This is another theme song that will get turned up to ignorant levels and if you need to add to a playlist to help you hit the gym. This is the song.
Three-six's performance on an edition of Smackdown in 2006 helped amplify the adrenaline that will flow through when listening to this.
