5 Great ECW Tag Teams Not Named The Dudleys

When ECW comes up in conversation especially regarding tag teams, The Dudley Boyz are always the first name that people talk about. And why not? They are one of the most decorated tag teams in pro wrestling history, winning the tag team championships across multiple organizations 23 times. They cut their teeth and made their name in ECW, winning the tag team championship there 8 times during their 3 years with the company and made many memorable moments.

While The Dudley's are standard bearers for tag team's in ECW and possibly tag team wrestling in general. There were other teams, that helped build that division alongside The Dudley's. Here are 5 great tag teams for ECW, who contributed just as much to the division. They just happened to not be The Dudley's.

5.The Public Enemy

Ok, Johnny Grunge and Rocco Rock better known as The Public Enemy aren't in the conversation of greatest tag teams ever. Within the realm of ECW however, there is room for a discussion to be had. They fit the style of ECW, brawlers who could take punishment just like they dished them out. Never afraid to pick up a foreign object and wield it around to their advantage. And last they were know for their gimmick of using a table by any means necessary (Before The Dudley's did in the E). They always walked to the ring with a table, so you know it would be involved somehow.

The team won the ECW tag team championship four times during their run with the company. They're run with the company was so successful, WCW and later WWF thought they were more than what they actually were and quickly had buyers remorse. Regardless of how things went south in other organizations, when it comes to ECW and the discussion of tag team's. The Public Enemy has to be involved for what they contributed to the division and the company.

4. Raven And Stevie Richards

Raven and Stevie Richards are ECW legends, even if Richards doesn't get the credit he deserves. Stevie joined ECW in late 1994 with his moniker making references to Raven's past gimmicks. He was the first lackey to join Raven's Nest, and Raven treated him as such bossing him around without fail. While that was their relationship on the surface, Richards his partner in crime, aiding Raven at every turn during his historical feuds against Tommy Dreamer and Sandman respectively.

Despite being perceived as Raven's lackey, Stevie held his own in the ring. His efforts led to the duo winning the ECW tag team championship twice. The two made names for themselves in the business, but they wouldn't have gotten as far without the other in their corner.

3. Eliminators

Perry Saturn and John Kronus in my opinion is one of the best tag teams, no one talks about. Kronus stood 6'4 tall and was very agile for his size. He was considered the high-flyer of the two. Perry Saturn who was 5'10, had a more brawling martial arts inspired style.

Together the two were heavy hitters who could dish out punishment and take their fair share as well. They won the ECW tag team championship 3 times. While cementing their legacy in brutal matched and feuds against The Pitbulls, Public Enemy, Raven & Stevie Richards, The Gangstas, and The Dudleys.

2. Impact Players

The Impact Players united under now hilarious circumstances. Shane Douglas was set to retire (in reality leaving the organization for WCW) and dub someone the new "Franchise". Justin Credible and Lance Storm both made a case to be the anointed one. When Douglas snubbed both of them for Tommy Dreamer, the floodgates opened.

Lance Storm is one the smoothest most technical wrestlers to ever step in the ring. Justin Credible was a solid talent who was never a bigger star. Together the two were a formidable duo who dominated the division until Storm departed for WCW. They won the ECW tag titles twice and were the top of the heap during that time.

1. RVD And Sabu

RVD and Sabu were a tag team you just don't see too much of these days. In that both were insanely talented individuals who really could do without the other, bonded by their respective alliance with Bill Alfonso. Who got them to work together for championships.  The two were on-again/off-again friends and foes.

RVD truly was the "Whole F'N Show" with his acrobatic, martial arts fused wrestling style. Sabu was the insane one with a high tolerance for immense pain. He was always leaping off of something into a crowd, guardrail, or chair. All of their matches were exciting and fans knew they were in for a show. They won the ECW tag championships twice and probably the biggest names in the tag team division for ECW outside of The Dudley's.
