Shockingly, I Miss Britt Baker

 

Britt Baker DMD has not wrestled for AEW since November 2024. A member of the company since it's inception, she quickly become a pillar of the women's division and AEW. As a  weekly fixture on TV she became synonymous with the brand. Then poof she disappeared.

As her star rose, AEW relied on her more. She was a major player on TBS's AEW All Access reality show, where her relationship with Adam Cole was a plot point. While she has only been the women's world champion one time, she held it for 290 days. 

The lights out match against Thunder Rosa on Dynamite in 2021, set a standard for Women's wrestling. When given an opportunity they could go through hell just as much as the male wrestlers. She also won the women's Owen Hart cup in 2022.

Through all this time and accomplishments, I was not a fan. The DMD persona was cool, but nothing special. I thought she was overrated and an average wrestler at best. With just enough charisma to get her over. She couldn't stand toe to toe with the female legends in my opinion.

Yet here we are over a year since she was last seen in AEW, and I miss her presence. For all that crap I just talked about her, she bought alot to the table. 

She was a consistent, reliable talent. Someone that was dependable during some strange times to perform and do what the company had asked. Since her hiatus from TV there have been whispers she's medically cleared just being held back for some reason. Both herself and Tony Khan who never knows when to be quiet have been very mum on her status.

I've seen social media chatter that as the AEW female roster has expanded and improved, Baker may not be needed any longer. I dont think that's true, I believe she still has a place on the roster and can still put on good matches. In fact thats a storyline waiting to happen, Britt Baker returns to reclaim her place in the womens roster pecking order. Or she could return on a reign of terror to prove she IS AEW!

Whatever the case maybe, I for one hope she returns soon and proves everyone who have forgotten about her and the naysayers like myself. That she is not one to doubt.
