Survivor Series & WarGames Needs A Divorce
I didn't see Survivor Series this past weekend but from what I've heard, I didn't miss a thing. To be honest I haven't been fully tuned into any wrestling lately as life has been lifing. Needless to say even if I haven't actually watched events I've at least tried to keep up with whats going on.
So even before this past weekends card, I thought the men's wargames matchup was lackluster and didn't give that Wargames feeling. I had my thoughts about what WWE should do with Wargames, but now its more apparent than ever. It's time to seperate Wargames from Survivor Series.
Since bringing WarGames back, the matches that followed that concept have been few and far between. I can really only think of The Undisputed Era vs Pat McAfee team, and The Bloodline vs The Brawling Brutes, KO, and Drew McIntyre. Everything else has been matches thrown together to sell WarGames.
And chatter on social media indicates fans are looking for the traditional Survivor Series matchup to come back. WWE did it on the Smackdown after Thanksgiving, but that was thrown together with little effort.
Its time for Survivor Series to return as a premium WWE Big 4 event. Spearheaded by legit main event Survivor Series matchups. While WarGames is used not as an annual event like WCW did with Fall Brawl and the E is doing now.
Instead attach it to one of the secondary PLE's when the story calls for it. And thus let it steal the show and not be associated with Survivor Series. The two events can become an even bigger deal seperately for the next generation of fans.
There is a future for WarGames in WWE land, just not as part of Survivor Series.
