5 Feuds That Would Have Benefited From A War Games Match

It's November, which means turkey's and stuffing, gearing up for Christmas shopping, family time. Survivor Series and oh yeah WarGames! While we prepare for a battle between The OG Bloodline and the new Bloodline, I started thinking about the what if's of WarGames which sent me down a rabbit hole of factions and feuds.

So here are 5 feuds that would have benefitted from a WarGames faceoff.

5. The Dudes With Attitude vs Four Horsemen

The Dudes With Attitudes were a very very short-lived group in WCW. The team was comprised of Sting, Lex Luger, The Steiner Brothers, Junkyard Dog, and Paul Orndorff. They were babyfaces who watched Sting's back, as he faced off against Ric Flair at Great American Bash in 1990. While Flair had the Horsemen watching his back, The Dudes With Attitude kept them at bay.

After that match they just disappeared. What if though, the two teams faced off? That's right after Sting won, the Horsemen should have been infuriated so much. They set out to attack Sting by any means necessary with intentions of ending his career, and The Dudes With Attitude would be his backup preventing that from happening. Until The Four Horsemen so fed up with no achieving their goal, felt a WarGames match was the only way to end it.

4. Evolution vs HBK & Friends

In the mid-2000's Evolution ruled the land of WWE, representing the past (Ric Flair), present (Triple H), and future (Randy Orton & Batista) of professional wrestling. They had some pretty intense feuds during their 3 year run, but never with another faction as none were around or as dominant as the group during that time. They did however have individual feuds that forced other wrestlers to team up from time to time to do battle against them.

Which would have provided a great opportunity to bring WarGames back and have a man in Ric Flair who was associated with so many historic moments from WarGames, participate in it's revival. The best chance for that to happen likely would have been in late 2003. Shawn Michaels, Edge, Chris Benoit, and let's say Goldberg could have faced off against Evolution. The match surely would have matched any Hell In A Cell or steel cage match seen up to that point.

3. Nexus vs Cena Army

Many consider Nexus losing to Super Cena at Summerslam in 2010 as the moment they lost all momentum. The unit was never booked the same after that, but what if WWE was utilizing WarGames at the time? Nexus could have challenged Cena and peers to a match to continue their takeover mission. However, Cena would have continually declined moving on from Nexus.

Yet they would have been relentless in targeting Cena, eventually attacking his partners from Summerslam (John Morrison, Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, R. Truth, and Edge). Taking one completely out of action in the storyline. Maybe bring Bret Hart back for another one-off appearance so they could take him out too. Then come for Cena who has had enough and agrees to a WarGames match and boom what a match it probably would have been.

2. Revolution vs Filthy Animals

In WCW in the late 90's Revolution was a stable led by Shane Douglas with Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, and later Asya apart of the fold. They were originally a group of "younger" wrestlers tired of the establishment in WCW holding them back. The group slowly formed into one that became sick of the "politics" and became Anti-American in the process. Meanwhile The Filthy Animals comprised of Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Konnan, Kidman, and Torrie were a even younger faction just looking to have some fun.

The two teams with opposing styles eventually clashed, they had a feud throughout the fall of 1999 into early 2000's. Ending once some visions and turmoil changed things in WCW, but imagine all these guys in a WarGames match, the technicians and brawlers that made up Revolution against the high-flyers of the Filthy Animals. That steel cage would have came into play in so many ways and fans likely would have talked about it for eons.

1. The Nation vs D-Generation X

In reality, by time Survivor Series had rolled around in 1998. The Nation and D-X was over, The Nation had pretty much seperated as The Rock stardom accelerated into the universe. While D-X was kind of winging it until it was time to face The newly formed Corporation. Man in a perfect world, the feud which was quite brutal throughout the spring and summer of that year would have capped off at Wargames.

Just imagine The Rock, Mark Henry, Owen Hart, D'lo Brown and The Godfather squaring off against Triple H, X-Pac, and the New Age Outlaws. Now in this sccenario, D-X would be a man short or someone from the Nation would have had to not participate in the match. Which would keep Chyna occupied outside the ring. It truly would have been a slugfest and if it were to happen and all the stars were aligned, may have went down as one of the best WarGames matches of all time.
