December Random Rants

Here we are folk's its New Year's Eve and we prepare to say goodbye to 2024 and ring in 2025. With the holidays and holiday shopping, December was a blur so here's some quick random rants.

Toni Storm

I know some hate Toni Storm's amnesia angle, but damnit I am loving it. You have to give credit to AEW for her return at the end of Dynamite and then have her return match be on Rampage earlier this month. Fanboys blew up about how asinine it was to have her return match be on a third rate show, only for it to be revealed it was apart of the angle. She is really selling this character too and I'm looking forward to regaining her memory and either returning as Timeless Toni or staying in her current incarnation.

Bandido

Kudos to AEW for the very clever Western themed vignettes for Bandido for his return. I love a good creative vignette to help sell a wrestler and this was top tier. When the first one aired for a second, I thought it was new Western coming on TBS.

Sad Bandido suffered a concussion at ROH Final Battle. He wrestles a very fast paced aerial style so I hope he finds a way to adjust his style, but keep the move set that has made him so appealing.

Also, was I the only one that thought one of the guys in the vignette was a Elias doppelganger?

Richochet

While the road is leading to a full on Richochet heel act. I'm starting to think Ricochet is intentionally being horrible on the mic and that is apart of his act. Like AEW is in on how bad fans perceive him on the mic and are making a joke out of it. That's the only explanation I have for continuing to have him talk and that annoying Jadakiss wannabe laugh.

TNA

TNA scored a major way this month securing a deal to air on Sportsnet360 which from my understanding is a major channel in Canada. Hopefully this paves the way for Anthem to negotiate a deal with a cable channel here in states, as many as desperate for sports themed content.

I know we're in the generation of cord cutting and streaming, but still being accessible on cable TV via a channel that is carried in more households than AXS would be a win. As much as I love TNA, I have not watched a full episode since the spring as adding another streaming service isn't in the cards right now and I don't have the time to go searching for them.

TNA also announced major shows are planned for L.A. and New York next year. I'm sitting here wondering when they will make a trip to Baltimore. They haven't been in the companies entire 22 year history. An episode of Impact was planned in 2013-14ish but was cancelled. I think ticket sales were too low or they changed Impact from live back to recorded.

Tessa Blanchard

TNA made the controversial decision to bring back Tessa Blanchard earlier this month, namely to help rebuild the Knockouts division with Jordynne Grace reportedly on her way to the WWE. Fans have been very vocal on both sides of the fence (like everything these days on social media), and other pro wrestlers (namely Moose) spent a lot of time arguing with fans about her return.

I will say, I do believe in second chances as people do make mistakes. However, Tessa has never took accountability for her actions in an effort to move on, I'm not saying she hasn't grown as a person but a public acknowledgement of her wrong doing would have settled a lot. She's likely to be on her very best behavior during this run so we shall see how it goes.

Chelsea Green

I will admit while Chelsea Green has always been a talented wrestler it took me a good while to be a supporter of hers. She has impeccable comedic timing and give's her all at whatever is thrown her way. She was very deserving of becoming the first Women's United States Champion and she will have a very good reign until Piper Niven turns on her and goes for the title.

Naomi

When it is finally revealed that Naomi was the one who attacked Jade Cargill and she turns on Bianca as well, I hope it begins a resurgence of Naomi's WWE character. As much as I enjoy looking at her and her athletic wrestling ability, it is time for a tweak to her character. Namely putting the glow character to rest for the time being and hopefully showing some more aggression.

Judgement Day

Am I the only one who can not wait for this feud to be over? Damien Priest vs The Judgement Day has run its course, they've been spinning their wheels on this since August.

New Day

Speaking of heel turns, that New Day heel turn was gold. I wrote last month about Xavier Wood's potentially become WWE's next great heel, but hell Kofi may surpass him. What has made their heel run so enjoyable so far is how everyone has turned their back on the duo, and they are acting oblivious about what did they do wrong?

Roman Reigns vs Solo Sikoa is scheduled for next Mondays first ever Raw on Netflix. WWE is trying to frame it as the last match between the two, but being as though it's in L.A. The Rock is sure to appear and keep the Bloodline angle running.

Thank you to everyone who has read one of my blogs this year. I have more already piped up for next year. Have a safe and enjoyable New Year's Eve celebration.

Happy New Year everyone!
