Wrestlers Who Need A Refresh For 2025

With 2025 quickly approaching and everyone getting prepared for their new year resolutions to start fresh. I thought it would make for a good blog to discuss ten wrestlers could use a facelift, new paint job, new angles or just small tweaks to their presentation. To either keep from becoming stale or move up on the card and really get opportunities to shine. Let's see who these 10 talents are.

10. Mia Yim

I like Mia Yim (I can't get with the Michin name). She is talented in the ring and a very beautiful woman, but she is missing something that allows her to connect with audiences. Every time she comes out the crowd reaction is very meh. I'm not sure if fan's aren't sure how to react to her or WWE has never given her anything to work with enough for fans to care about her.

Her making the finals of the Women's United States Championship tournament was a start. Let's see if adjustments are made to her presentation to become a cornerstone of the women's division

9. Street Profits

Every time it seems like the tide is changing for the street profits the rug gets pulled from under them for one reasons or another. While fan's are still clamoring for a Montez Ford solo run, Angelo Dawkins has quietly improved his game where from a in-ring perspective where he may have surpassed Ford. Especially from a in-ring technical perspective, B-Fab also has improved and yet they still come up short. WWE still highlights their frustrations, but then nothing happens.

Since becoming a team in early 2017 they have won the tag team championship in NXT once, the Raw Brand once, and the Smackdown brand once for two talented individuals that is a crime. So in 2025 they need to ditch the solo cups and their get the vibe going entrance. They don't necessarily need to be heels, just tired of the games. If they tone down their promos to highlight aggression yet not quite sinister just frustrated without being over the top. Then they can head on to the road for a fresh start in the new year.

8.Savannah Evans

Since joining TNA in 2022, Savannah Evans has mostly played the bodyguard role for Tasha Steelz and later Gisele Shaw. After a hiatus this year, she returned on the Halloween episode of Impact taking out Lei Ying Lee (Xia Li) and proclaiming it was her time to shine. However, she doesn't much since returning and that is a shame. It appears doing her time away she slimed down and worked on her coordination (which was hindrance in my opinion). She should be well on her way to acquiring the Knockouts championship and as she is noticeably bigger than most of the Knockouts clearing any and all that are in her path.

With the rumors of Jordynne Grace leaving TNA for WWE next month, she should take over as the next powerhouse of the division and finally get her shine.

7. Austin Theory

During the later years of the Vince McMahon era Austin Theory was one of his favorites. He was being involved in big storylines, won the Money In the Bank briefcase, was U.S. Champion and had an annoying Gen Z gimmick of always having his phone to take a selfie of opponents. It worked, he was deemed annoying and was drawing heat as he went up the card. Then regimes changed, Triple H permanently took over and the push stopped. He was paired with another talented young wrestler Grayson Waller to become A-Town Down Under. They've won the tag team championship once but they also seem just kind of there.

While little seeds have been planted the duo may spilt up, hopefully in 2025 Theory get's back on the trajectory to rising up the card. He has some things he can improve on, but he has a great deal of potential to be a big star for years to come.

6. Keith Lee

This one is a little shaky because we as fans honestly don't know what is going with Keith Lee? Is he recovering from an injury? Are the health issues he's been battling keeping him from fully preparing for a in-ring career? Does AEW just not sure what to do with him right now? There are endless questions regarding Keith Lee right now. One thing I do know is for 2025 I would like to see Keith Lee return to the ring healthy and ready to dominate.

When he is able to return he should be presented as the mountain of a man that he is, and on a mission to claim glory and championships. Making up for lost time since stepping foot in AEW.

5. Pete Dunne

The new regime did one of the best things known to man when they took that awful name and gimmick Butch away from Pete Dunne and let him be himself. Problem this they haven't truly unleashed the beast of Pete Dunne. He had a series of matches with Sheamus on RAW that were everything you expected from those two, hard-hitting brawling matches. He hasn't been involved in any programs since that will help him ascend up the card.

Being as though he is on the RAW brand, he should be in the atmosphere of the Intercontinental Championship. For the new year the Bruiserweight needs to return and challenge Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental championship. He'll never be a good talker but he is so good in the ring, he doesn't exactly need to be. He just needs to win matches and whip ass, and hopefully in the new year that's what he does.

4. Big Bill

Big Bill has dramatically improved from his days as Big Cass in NXT/WWE. It took a stint in TNA to help him find his way again, and he's been on fire ever since. However, it is now time for him to break away from Chris Jericho and The Learning Tree and forge a path towards the AEW World Championship. He could become a cornerstone of the main event in AEW and has the size, the look, and can talk to be taken serious from fans as a potential world champion.

3. Adam Cole

Adam Cole's time in AEW has been very hit or miss, usually more misses. While he is still a very talented wrestler and has a strong connection with fan's, it seems he's lost that "cool" factor. The dragging out of the Devil storyline played a part, then him having to step away to allow his injury to heal properly were likely contributing factors. Another factor is that he has been entangled with MJF for about a year and a half, and it just feels like the story is slowly dragging on.

It's time Adam Cole take's on a more aggressive approach in AEW, defeat MJF and move on from him and set's his sights on other goals. He should be at the very least carrying the international championship and making that title his own.

2. Mercedes Moné

Mercedes Moné is for some reason a very polarizing figure in professional wrestling, some love her and some despise her (some of the reasons she is despised has nothing to do with her in-ring talent by the way). I for one like Mercedes Varnado the person and businesswoman, as a wrestler I think she was pioneer in the women's wrestling movement of being taken seriously in North America. As a character man I wish she would do better.

Her in-ring work is still solid even after adjusting her style a bit, but her promos are still bad like bad bad. For someone who has spent some time in Hollywood I would think she would have improved in that area. I'm ok with being over the top in character and on the mic, but hopefully she works on getting rid of some of the cringe worthy aspects of her presentation in the new year, and then she'll tone down her facial expressions and the way she enunciates words. It will only make the CEO gain more business.

1. Cody Rhodes

Let's be honest, Cody Rhodes has kind of been on cruise control since he finished the story at WrestleMania and won the championship. Though no real fault of his own, WWE hasn't really given him compelling opponents and his reign has mostly played second fiddle to the Bloodline storyline. His feud with Kevin Owens has made for some good TV, and their match at Saturday Night's Main Event showed hint's of what Cody needs next. He needs some edge, that aggression he needs to take on more a tweener role to reduce the risk of becoming stale.

Since he sell's so much merchandise and is a great ambassador for the brand, I doubt he will turn heel anytime soon. So the naturally step would be a sophisticated tweener still the calm and well dressed everyman champion, who will snap when provoked just enough and not afraid to cheat to win. In 2025 I hope we see more of that Cody Rhodes.
