5 Wrestling Weddings You Forgot About

 

Wedding's in pro wrestling, they rarely go off without a hitch. They are typically used to kick off a new chapter in a angle or end an angle. Other times I'm never sure what the purpose of them are.

For every Macho Man & Elizabeth, Triple H & Stephanie, and Teddy Long & Kristal Marshall wedding. There are several you just don't remember. Here are 5 you probably forgot about.

5. Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis

One of the more recent wrestling wedding's occurring in fall of 2021, and damnit one of the funniest weddings I've seen. It's also one of the few wrestling wedding's that went off without any major problems. The biggest one being best man Austin Theory forgetting the ring, but Ikemen Jiro had his back.

In probably one of the funniest moments ever in pro wrestling, when it came time to objections Dexter made sure that wasn't an issue. Opening his jacket to reveal a mini hatchet in case anyone wanted some smoke. Beth Phoenix swooped in at the last minute to finish officiating the ceremony and Index were happily married. Only thing was NXT/WWE didn't do much with the angle afterwards and it sadly has become forgotten by the masses.

4. Jay Lethal and So Cal Val

A riff on the classic Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth Summerslam wedding in 1991. TNA's homage I guess you want to call it, happened at Slammiversary in 2008. The Black Machismo Jay Lethal was all set to marry his bride So Cal Val. 

During the ceremony Sonjay Dutt the best man of the wedding intervened, and proclaimed his love for Val. A brawl between Lethal and Dutt ensued, and guests such as Jake The Snake, Koko B. Ware, Kamala, and George "The Animal" Steele intervened. Helping Lethal stand tall in the end amidst a chaos of a ceremony.

3. Aksana and Goldust 

In 2010 Aksana was a candidate on NXT back when it was on the syfy network, as a quasi competition wrestling show. A storyline occurred where she was on the brink of being deported due to visa issues. Few weeks later Goldust who she had been paired with, proposed to her.

The ceremony featured Ted Dibiase officianting, Hornswoggle as the ring bearer. Dusty and Cody Rhodes as the best men. Aksana was clearly giving her best Marlena cosplaying. The wedding actually was straight forward, except when it came time to kiss the bird Dusty laid one on Aksana. Then Aksana slapped Golddust and walked off. The angle awkwardly ended a few weeks later contributing to Aksana being eliminated from the competition.

2. Bobby Lashley and Lana

This wedding only happened in 2019, yet most people probably have forgotten it because they choose to. That's how bad the whole angle and the wedding was. The Lana and Bobby Lashley angle was a waste of both their talent and time, same went for Rusev (Miro). There were unintentional mishaps like Lana getting Lashley's foundation on her face after a "kiss" and everyone just seeming "off" with their lines and what they were supposed to do.

To the planned storyline of Lana's first "husband" objecting only to receiving a ass whipping. A then relatively unknown Karissa Rivera (Elektra Lopez) interrupting for...I forget the exact reason. Then Liv Morgan interrupting proclaiming to be Lana's "lover", until finally Rusev emerged from the cake and all hell broke loose. It wasn't a  good comedy, dramedy, or a soap opera wedding it was just there.

1. Kurt and Karen Angle

Valentines day 2008, Kurt Angle wanted to do something special for his wife Karen. So they decided to renew their vows on TNA Impact. And it just seemed doomed from the start. First best man AJ Styles was completely disheveled with his clothes. When the officiant asked were there any objections, AJ almost spoke up until Jeremy Borash shot him down.

Then Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash appeared objecting and letting Angle know they were coming for him. Which led to a brawl with AJ, Karen and the officiant getting knocked down. While Angle was stripped down to his underwear as he fought off Nash and Joe up the ramp. Leading to everyone else coming to their senses and the officiant announcing "you may kiss the bride" at that one point AJ planted one on Karen Angle.
