March Random Rants
Few days late on the March random rants. I came down with a cold I managed to keep the symptoms to a minimum, but in fighting it I didn't have energy for much else that wasn't a priority. I'm at the tail end of it and should be back like new in a few days.
I'm learning the older you get "toughing" out illnesses just ain't cutting it. So I'm making the March random rants real light. Here we go.
Some people hate it, but I love the fact John Cena did not switch up his attire upon turning heel. Keeping the same gear he's worn for 20 plus year is kind of a psychological game. He didnt change, people changed on him. As evident by some of his recent promos on why he changed.
This Hurt Syndicate/MJF story should be a fun ride. We all know MJF will not join the Hurt Syndicate, and if he does it won't be for long. But that doesn't make the journey any less interesting.
I'm loving that AEW has taken the fact they needed to change arena sizes, and is creating unique environments. The Dynamite at Sacramento Memorial Auditorim early in March looked great on TV.
Chad Gable Lucha
I know opinions vary on this Chad Gable lucha/El Grande Americano angle. For the most part I like it, I do wish a little more time was spent on the vignettes of Gable learning the luchador style.
And I'm ok with the El Grande Americano bit, we all know it's Gable so the payoff should be good. The Gulf of Mexico/America thing on the vignette for the mysterious luchador probably should have been cut out because it was very polarizing.
I'm also curious what's in store, because I was one of the folks adamant it would lead to Rey Fenix appearing on RAW. Now that he's on Smackdown the road is wide open for which way the story runs.
Naomi Heel Turn
I'm thinking we are about to see the greatest run of Naomi's career, with this heel turn. She has gone all in on the turn and it was time. The glow era had ran it's course and it was time for her to step outside her box. So far she has been killing it and showing hints she's a bit unhinged.
Whatever TNA reasons were for firing Gail Kim. I hope AEW swoops her up to help their women's division. I think however she is on her way back to WWE now that she seems to get along with the current regime.
Patrick Clark aka Velveteen was at a local show mcw (Maryland Championship Wrestling) in March I attended. He still is immensely talented and has time on his side. It appears on the surface he has been humbled by the experience.
I think if someone opts to give him another chance, either New Japan maybe good overseas of that's what he desires, stateside TNA is for him. WWE won't touch him until he proves he has matured, and AEW he will end up like others come in with a bang and then flame out.
Walemania will air on Netflix and I'm excited for that. I went to Walemania in 2019 and had one of the best times of my life. It will be interesting how the event is structured and the runtime.
While we're on events for Wrestlemania week. WWE is really really pushing it with all these additional events for. The inflated ticket prices are one thing, and I understand continuing to evolve Wrestlemania and the week surrounding it.
Everything has a breaking point though. There are several outside factors that will make people think twice about joining all these events. Just some food for thought...peace til next month.
