5 AEW Originals Probably On Their Way Out

With Penta officially done with AEW, and Rey Fenix on his way out before time was extended to his contract due to injury. In addition to original talents like Shawn Spears, Santana Joey Janela, Sonny Kiss, and Jake Hager leaving. Along with persistent rumors that Ricky Starks is on his way out too, I started thinking about AEW originals whose respective times are probably coming to a end at AEW.

In any company, additions and subtractions of staff happen. It's the nature of any business, sometimes we as fans get a little too attached to talents wrestling in certain promotions. We forget about the business aspect and the wrestlers personal preferences. Since AEW is celebrating their 5 year anniversary of Dynamite I started digging into this deeper. With that here are 5 AEW originals not being with the company much longer.

5. Kip Sabian & Penelope Ford

When I first thought of this article, Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford weren't doing much of anything. Now Kip is involved with an angle with The Patriarchy that I'm not sure exactly where it's going. I haven't seen Penelope by his side during these segments.

The fact that is Kip's biggest storyline in the 5 years he's been working for AEW tells me he won't go any higher than this on the card. Once this angle is complete I can see him fading back into the background before leaving the company altogether.

4. Scorpio Sky

Scorpio Sky has had a very up and down career in AEW. He's been tag champion and a 2x TNT champion, even won the face of the revolution ladder match in 2021 that went nowhere. He suffered a knee jury in late 2023 and even though being recovered has not been seen on AEW TV this year.

He spoke earlier this year on Chris Van Vliet that he's been lost in the shuffle. Which honestly at 41 is likely not a good sign. He still brings immense talent and value to the ring and roster. I just don't see him being effectively used and will be on his way out.

3.Private Party

Private Party bought much excitement and potential to the roster in 2019. Unfortunate injuries to Marq Quen left Isiah Kassidy to mingle with other acts to stay relevant while Quen rehabbed. Now that Quen is back it looks like AEW is trying to make them relevant again.

However I think the brass view Quen as injury prone and not reliable. In addition the exciting young high-flying tag team mojo they had, has been overtaken by Top Flight. I forsee both sides moving on once their contracts are up.

2.Nyla Rose

Nyla Rose much like Sonny Kiss was bought on to AEW to show the importance of  inclusiveness in the organization. I think I read that was a big Brandi Rhodes thing and since she left with Cody, Sonny is no longer there and Nyla hasn't been featured much.

She won the women's championship one time and was prominent when Vickie was her manager. Not sure if it's the Tony has new toys syndrome or he has caved in to certain fans who cannot accept Nyla is transgendered. But I don't see her making much of a impact on the women's roster any further and soon will be moving on.

1. Wardlow

This is the big one fans continue to speculate about. I wrote an article early last month about talents that have been fumbled and Wardlow is a topic in that article. He was poised to be one of the biggest homegrown stars when he broke apart from MJF in early 2022. Things just haven't panned out that way and it seemed like he lost his mojo.

Reports say he is currently out with a knee injury. Reports also say WWE is very interested in him, as he fits their mold of wrestlers. Whenever he does return to AEW I think he will get lost in the mix, and then ride it out until he becomes a free agent.
