Xavier Woods: WWE's Next Big Heel?

 

 Over the past couple of months WWE has been slow building towards a Xavier Woods heel turn. Initially starting with him not being on board with Kofi Kingston bringing Odyssey Jones into the fold, without discussing with him. Once Odyssey was released for real life misconduct, it kind of threw a wrench in the story.

WWE quickly pivoted to continue the story. Xavier has been frustrated with Kofi being Buddy buddy with the LWO and now Jey Uso. And thinking Xavier will be onboard with it. Initially I wasn't sure how I felt about a Xavier Woods heel turn, now I am 100% here for it.

This characterization of Woods has all the makings of a great heel. For every egotistical, diabolical, despeciable heel out there. There are also ones who have very valid points in what they say and believe. I feel like in a promo Xavier mentioned to Kofi, he felt like he was trying to replace Big E. which could be a valid point.

He is the only New Day member to never be world champion or even win a singles championship. Which could highlight his frustration with losing to Jey Uso in his quest for the intercontinental championship. For a good stretch of the New Days roster, he was more hype man/manager than wrestler. Maybe he feels some type of way about that. Maybe he feels everyone takes him for a joke from his trombone playing era.

The New Day as a unit have also been together for 10 years. Which in real life is a long time, but in the world of wrestling is almost a enterity. Maybe he feels change is needed but his brother in Kofi doesn't see it, and he doesnt want to break his heart. Until he can't take it any longer and snaps. 

Whenever the trigger is pulled and Woods finally turns heel, we will be in for a entertaining ride. His run as a heel could be very methodical and unhinged, bordering on psychotic trying to achieve singles greatness. 

All the seeds are being planted for a great heel run from Woods. If done right, he could become a top tier upper mid-card into main event heel. Eventually reaching top heel status, I believe it could work that much. I for one have my popcorn ready, waiting to see how this plays out.
