Random Wrestlemania Rant

Wrestlemania Weekend has concluded and tonight's RAW will kickoff a new season for WWE. Before we move on, I wanted to offer some random thoughts on Mania.

While Night 2 was significantly better than Night 1. Both nights seemed mid overall, and while I originally was a proponote of two night Manias. Last years Mania started to raise some fears, and this weekends kind of solidified it. The 2 night Mania may need to be reevaluated.

Paige returning to WWE was fun to see, but a time I wish social media and the internet wasn't so spoiler heavy as it is. Everyone knew she was coming back, killing the surprise factor. Hell I went a movie Friday night had on a wrestlemania shirt, one of the staffers started talking to me about Mania. He mentioned Paige was coming back per the internet. I just stood there like damn.

The special entrances were another component that seemed like the effort put into them were low. Dirty Dom had the best one though, tying into his current reign as AAA mega champion. With his King of Luchadors nickname, and his family lineage in pro wrestling.

I enjoyed Finn's and Cody's as well, but Dirty Dom took the cake.

Enjoyed The Irresistible Forces tribute to Demolition as part of their attire. I don't think many fans picked up on it though based on the reaction.

Speaking of, other than a few times it seemed like the crowd energy was low. Or the sound just couldn't pick up the cheers etc.

Cena was fine as the host and bought his usual energy. The segment with Miz, Kit Wilson, and Danhausen was ok in my opinion. I could have done without it, but people seemed to love it. I just don't see the point of these hosts if they dont really help progress a angle or something.

Big congrats to Bianca Belair and Montez Ford. If you watched their reality show on Hulu, she truly wanted to be a mom. Glad their new bundle of joy is on the way.

Sidenote, my wife was casually watching with me, soon as she saw Biancas face she asked was she pregnant. I'm sitting there like idk she been out injured, you'd think after a couple kids I'd pick up on the clues.

Brock's retirement shocked everyone, but looking back I think clues were there we just didn't pick up on it. It also seemed like very few people knew ahead of time. While I'm sure Heyman was aware, man was he a emotional wreck.

While it was teased, I hope Roman vs Oba is allowed to simmer before a full on match. That is a pure money match that needs time to build up.

This weekends Mania was a reminder that we are truly in the era of TKO. Besides what seemed like the extra logos slapped on the ring. The set design was lackluster to what we've become accostumed to for Wrestlemania. Which was done to add more seats at a premium price .

The overuse of ad's which limited in-ring time. With several matches running less than 10 minutes. Not to mention just the overall presentation was all about how to squeeze more money out of this. TKO's Wrestlemanias are completely different than what we grew to love.

Speaking of ad's and match times. If I was in person I would have been pissed at the runtime of matches. And just how both nights were overall. Watching Mania was a reflection of life right now. Everything is a premium price, but we are getting less for it.

Hopefully WWE hears the criticism and makes improvements leading up to next year.
