Wrestlemania Hosts Ranking
John Cena is the official host of this year's Wrestlemania. While to be honest I've never really understood the point; of having a host for Mania. Cena's involvement surely will peak some additional interest, and I'm curious if Cena gets physical with someone.
The wheels start spinning in my head. I decided to go down the guest host rabbit hole, and rank the hosts of Wrestlemania.
8. Kim Kardashian
In 2008 at Wrestlemania XXIV, Kim Kardashian was the guest host for the event. And it was rather forgettable, she had a backstage segment with Mr. Kennedy and announced the crowd attendance. And according to Jonathan Coachman, who seems to frequently need to be fact checked by the way. She received a $25,000 paycheck for her work.
Absolutely not a bad paycheck, but a very forgettable job.
7. Alexa Bliss
Wrestlemania 35 in 2019, Alexa Bliss was one of the hottest acts for the women's division. Her reward was being selected as the host for the event that year. I can't remember if she was injured and that was the reason for being the host.
In any case her biggest moment hosting was bringing Hulk Hogan out, which was his return to WWE after being banished for his racist comments.
6. Titus O'Neil & Hulk Hogan
Wrestlemania 37, 2021 Tampa, Florida. WWE's first event with fans since the pandemic began the year before. WWE pegged hometown guys Titus O'Neil and Hulk Hogan to host the show. Weird pairing, but they had one job. Get the crowd excited and into a groove for the event.
And they succeeded, having some entertaining moments throughout the 2 night event. Getting the crowd and roster psyched to finally be in an facility with other people enjoying wrestling.
4. The Miz....& Snoop Dogg
Wrestlemania 39, Wrestlemania went Hollywood live from Sofi Stadium in LA. Who better to host than the A-List superstar The Miz? Who bought of all people Snoop Dogg along to co-host alongside him.
The most notable segment of their hosting duties is when The Miz was a little perturbed with Snoop, about his actions the night before. Shane McMahon then came out set to square up against The Miz. Only to suddenly injure himself. Snoop Dogg stepped in and took care of The Miz. Which was a headline grabbing moment WWE craves especially during Mania.
3. Hulk Hogan
Wrestlemania XXX, to celebrate the iconic event Hulk Hogan was pegged to host the event. Which absolutely made sense since he played a major role in the success of Wrestlemania, becoming the major event it has.
His opening promo segment with Stone Cold and The Rock, arguably two of the other biggest crossover stars pro wrestling has produced. Was a special "Thank You" treat to fans and we enjoyed every moment of it. I really don't recall any other "hosting" duties he did that night, but that segment was all we as fans needed.
3 New Day
To be honest The New Day's hosting of Wrestlemania 33 wasnt anything special. They did the job which was be entertaining and was authentic with having Final Fantasy inspired gear.
The highlight of their hosting duties though is teasing they would be involved in the multi team ladder match. Only for The Hardy Boyz to make their return to the WWE. I was there in the crowd and mannn that clearly was the biggest moment of the night.
2 Rob Gronkowski
Rob Gronkowski took a impossible situation necessitated by lockdown laws. And he made it work, which was a testament to his charisma and professionalism. Wrestlemania 36 completely derailed by the pandemic. Rob had to host the show from the performance center.
Sure it was akward to view at times. However, he just like the wrestlers those two nights did everything they could to make it as normal as possible. For being an outsider with that much dedication during a strange time, is why his hosting is ranked so high.
