It's A New Day

 

Over the weekend some bombshell news dropped, when it was announced New Day members Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods had left the WWE. Stories abound that TKO approached them about taking a paycut and they both said no.

The reason it was so shocking, was that both were long time veterans in the company. "Lifers" as we like to call them, with Kingston debuting in 2008 and Woods 2012. Along with Big E. they had very successful ten year run as a unit beginning in 2014.

Yet, one thing constant in life is change. Honestly it probably was time for a change for the duo. With Big E. retired after his neck injury, the OG New Day act had gone stale. Then when Woods was killing it as a brewing heel, WWE decided to make Kofi a heel as well. 

While they were entertaining as heels, slowly but surely they were getting regulated to fodder material. Now both men have a chance to rewrite their stories.

I personally think they should remain a duo. whether its the indy route or another promotion. They'll be able to inflict their personalities more into their gimmick, which could bring even bigger success. I don't know if TNA can afford them, but I personally hope they go there.

At this stage in their careers, it truly is a New Day for them. While we as fans thank them for their accomplishments and antics in the WWE. They'll be just fine in the next chapter.
