Level Up: Boss Mode

Last week The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns finally debuted some new theme music, with just about anything these days reviews were mixed. The positive chatter though mentioned how it fit his new persona and gave off Final Boss level vibes. That sparked an idea in my head,  we need an video game inspired cinematic match.

Last year when the pandemic first hit and promotions were trying different ways  to keep everyone safe and still produce quality matches, they often relied on cinematic matches to switch things up. At times they may have relied on it a little too much but that's another issue. Most of today's wrestlers along with fans are of the video game era when video games really took off, many wrestlers are avid gamers just look at up up down down. Not to mention they're appearances at conventions and often video game inspired attire..

The fact so many wrestlers are deeply enriched in the video game culture would provide plenty of inspiration and I think fun for a cinematic match.

It could be done fairly simple as well, a challenger for a title must go through 3 or 4 other competitors in an environment before getting to the boss. Now I mentioned Roman but I don't think the WWE would do justice for this type of match, no this needs to go to either AEW or Impact. My vote would be Impact though.

Impact's presentation is just wacky enough that they could pull it off without anyone batting an eye at how absurd it maybe. In an perfect situation say Rich Swann is trying to win his championship back. He must go through a gauntlet against Eddie Edwards, W. Morrissey, Chris Bey, and Moose before finally matching up against Kenny Omega to win the championship. Each "level" is another floor of say a warehouse and the top floor or roof is the final level with video game inspired font displayed on the screen at various times. Throw in some video game esque background music and there could be potential for a masterpiece here.

If some promotion decided to do an cinematic match like this it would definitely divide fans between those who think it's great and those who think it's too silly. Either way if it did happen I would be all here for it.
