Hey Yo! Why Scott Hall Is A Legend

When Scott Hall grabbed the mic and said "Hey Yo" you knew it was time to pay attention. Since the announcing of his health issues Sunday which led to his unfortunate passing, wrestling fans around the world have commented on how much he meant to then. Looking Back Scott Hall was a wrestling genius.

He was the personification of cool. The way he strutted to the ring, his mannerisms like slicking his hair back, and of course the flick of his toothpicks.

When Razor Ramon debuted in the WWF I was a kid and knew nothing about the movie "Scarface" or Tony Montana. So the accent, vignettes, the "razor" part of his name and the general swagger went completely over my head. Rumor has it, it went over Vince Mcmahons too lol.

The presentation was one part of the persona, but his in-ring work made him the total package. His Razor's edge always looked devasting especially during the New Generation era, when there weren't as many high impact moves being performed. He also could sell like hell in the ring and make any move look more impactful than it really was.

Him and Shawn Michaels invented the ladder match and produced two classics (Wrestlemania X, Summerslam '95) that many look back on and study when it's time for their ladder matches. He had Walter Payton in his corner at Summerslam.

When it was time to move on to WCW, he along with Kevin Nash made sure they got good paydays with a certain amount of working dates. Opening the doors for other veterans to follow suit in their contract negotiations.

His promo upon his debut Kickstarted the nWo angle and WCW's rise to the top. And his time in the nWo, besides being a founding member. He was instrumental in nuances of the group that have made it legendary.

The too sweet saying along with the hand gesture the Kliq had been using. The 4 life hand gesture and saying were the product of Hall's creativity. Let's not forget survey time he use to do asking who came to see the nwo or WCW.

He put the light bulb in Sting's ear to update his persona to the Crow inspired look fans still love. Along with Kevin Nash, he convinced Eric Bischoff to take DDP serious as a wrestler. All of them were key figures in WCW's consistent wins against the WWF during the Monday Night Wars.

During WCW house show's he would walk to the ring to the "Fugees" '96 hit "Ready Or Not". Come on how cool is that?

Hall is up there with the likes of Curt Henning, Roddy Piper, and Owen Hart who were never world champions. The truth of the matter is as awesome as it would have been, he didn't need to be. He was that damn good, cool, and successful without it.

I dont think there is any other wrestler that could match his level of machismo and coolness. So put on Wale's "Razor" freestyle , flick your toothpick and throw up your too sweet. One time for the bad guy.
