Random Rants For The Month Of January

 Bringing back a short lived column called Random Rants. Originally I did maybe 3 weekly articles of random thoughts I wanted to bring up but wasn't worth an entire blog.

That quickly went by the wayside with other commitments, this time I will try a monthly approach and see how it goes.

- The Bloodline story continues to keep us all hooked. The turn we all were waiting for happened Saturday Night at The Royal Rumble when Sami hit Roman with a chair after constantly being berated.

 However, we didn't really expect Jey Uso to be so conflicted he walked out on the group after they beat down Sami. I said it before and I'll say it again everyone involved deserves an Academy Award.

-Kazarian returning to Impact to finish his career is a smart move for both parties. He is a X-Divsion forefather as I like to call them (AJ, Samoe Joe, and Daniels are the others). He also was very lost in AEW's ever growing roster. Impact can always use an establish veteran to help bolster the roster and show folks Impact is a sleeper.

-I am glad L.A. Knight is finally getting his credit among the masses. I am a huge L.A. Knight Mark, when he was in Impact he basically stole the show every week and was a pillar from 2016 to 2019. Makes me curious what happened during his first run in NXT that led to his release, but things happen for a reason. If he hadn't gotten cut he may not be The guy fans love today.

- Triple H really should have kept the Ezekiel angle going. Elias just is not catching on any longer and it's probably best to reinvent the character.

-Speaking of which maybe pair Elias with the returning Rick Boogs. That may breath new life into the character.

-I enjoyed The Raw 30th anniversary and it was miles above Raw 25 (which was ambitious with emanating from 2 arenas but didn't work). It was kind of hard to do with the go home show before Royal Rumble, I wish WWE would find a way to kind of take a rest from advancing stories for a night. And really embrace incorporating more legends into the show other than a random bunch in one or two segments when they do these type of shows.

-On another Impact note Chris Bey and Ace Austin are really killing it as a tag-team with their crisp fast paced style. They really put on a show in New Japan and here's to an Impact Tag Team Championship run.

-Chelsea Green returned to the WWE at the Royal Rumble and was quickly eliminated. It's reported her new gimmick will be that of a "Karen". We got a glimpse of it and if done right in the right scenarios not taking itself too serious making Karen's even more absurd, this gimmick will be gold.

-Speaking of Chelsea Green, Joe Hendry's song on her husband Matt Cardona "Edge's Bitch" in Impact was Hilarious!!

-On another Chelsea Green note, since Triple H has taken over creative the talent he has bought back have been a little lackluster. No one is really getting any reaction and suddenly many people do not care for Karrion Kross. This may be a good topic for a later blog

-I know it's hard being smaller promotions/mini-majors. I really hope Impact and MLW have plans in the works to expand to other markets, it's honestly the only way they will grow as promotions.  Impact often hits Florida, Atlanta, New York, Nashville and Canada. MLW loves Philly, NYC, and Texas. AEW also has a issue overexposing themselves in the same markets (namely Chicago), but looks like they are addressing that this year.

-I hope the slow burn to a Hurt Business reunion isn't off the table. At this point I don't see a full reunion until after WrestleMania when Lashley and Brock are done.

-The wrestling world took a gut punch when Jay Briscoe passed suddenly earlier this month. There has been an outpouring within the community on how great of a man he was in addition to his talent inside the squared circle. The tribute match on AEW Dynamite featuring his brother Mark against Jay Lethal was very emotional, I was able to hold it together until Mark spoke to the camera to let his brother know he loved him. 

That moment hit me, life is so fragile and things can change in an instant Take that moment to let those you love know you do while you can.
