For every Macho Man & Miss Elizabeth, Booker & Queen Sharmell, Miz & Maryse, Naomi & Jimmy, InDex, Chyna & Eddie, Edge & Vickie that exist in the world of wrestling. There's always several couples real or entirely for storyline advancement that many have forgotten about in the fast-paced world of professional wrestling.
Since it's the season of lover's. I figured I'd share some that many may not remember.
David Flair & Stacy Keibler
Some may find this hard to believe but David Flair actually had game and dated Stacy Keibler in real life. That relationship spilled over to a storyline in the wacky Vince Russo ran WCW world in the summer of 2000. Stacy was known as Ms. Hancock at the time and the two were due to get married on an episode of nitro. Until Stacy announced she was pregnant, retracted her statement and then dumped Flair.
Eric Young and ODB
In 2011 ODB and Eric Young teamed up to compete in the TNA Wild Card Tournament for a Tag Team Title opportunity. Despite not advancing far the partnership made Eric Young realize he had an eye for ODB. Sparks flew between the two and they ended up winning the TNA Knockouts Tag Team championship, making Eric Young the first man to win that title.
The two even had a classic over the top wrestling
wedding, clad in their underwear. The two would eventually be stripped of the championship titles, and eventually go their separate ways while still "married" and partnering occasionally until ODB left Impact in 2014.
Laurel Van Ness and Grado
Laurel Van Ness (Chelsea Green) and Grado had a interesting "relationship" during their time as a couple in Impact. Van Ness was a hot mess after her breakup Braxton Sutter who
left her at the altar during their Impact wedding. Van Ness thus became a little unhinged wearing her wedding dress everywhere, drinking champagne out of the bottle and applying lipstick that only the Joker would be proud of. Looking back that actually was a very entertaining gimmick.
Grado meanwhile was looking for a way to stay in the US tried to sway Laurel that a union was best for them. After several weeks of trying, the tables turned when Van Ness actually
proposed to Grado. In ensuing vignettes it was obvious Van Ness was very annoyed by Grado and his actions but she went along with it and everything looked good heading into another Impact wedding. Until it was revealed by Joseph Parks that Van Ness was actually Canadian and not American, Grado called off the wedding and that was the end of them.
Zack Ryder and Eve Torres
At the end of 2011 heading into 2012 Zack Ryder was red-hot, using his YouTube show to garner interest and get himself over. He became the U.S. champion at TLC that year to much much fanfare. Heading into 2012 things started to slowdown, he lost the US title and became involved in a lop-sided feud with Kane. Meanwhile he gained a love interest in Eve Torres during the time, she cared for him after some injuries.
Then cracks started to show he saw her
kissing John Cena so close to Valentine's Day at that. After Ryder went out to recuperate, Eve revealed she was only using him as a "come-up". Upon returning Ryder had words for her but couldnt resist those eyes and fell back in love. That was until WrestleMania 28 when she low-blowed him effectively ending their relationship for good and the storyline. He never did gain any sort of revenge.
Gail Kim and Daniel Bryan
What a weird time in both professional's career when WWE tried to shoehorn them into a romantic storyline. It's early 2011 and Daniel Bryan playing this new character role of a nerdy womanizer, he's kind of attracted to both Bella Twins. The Bella Twins show a little interest back until that is he's seen
kissing Gail Kim backstage.
Thus Gail and Bryan started accompanying one another to the ring and participated in some mixed tag matches. By time we got to Wrestlemania that year the angle was dropped without explanation and both were riding solo.
