We Owe Roman An Apology

When Roman Reigns debuted in 2012 as a member of The Shield he honestly was deemed the weakest link of the three. Dean Ambrose (Moxley) was a good worker who was a indy vet that could talk. Seth Rollins was the exciting one of the group, with his flashy moves in the ring. Roman was the quiet Powerhouse.

When The Shield separated in 2014 Seth started his tremendous heel run as "The Architect", Moxley went on to find his footing in various feuds. And Roman was clearly being pegged as the heir apparent for John Cena as the E's superman.

The problem was it was a tad too early too much. Roman may or may not have been ready for that spot, his promos needed some work, he had good matches. No matter what people would reject him because he was the "Chosen One", just look at the end of Rumble in 2015 even The Rock couldn't help him gain favor with fans.

From 2014 to early 2020 he just looked like a failed project, but with no one else available to become the next "guy" WWE kept trying to fit a round peg into a square. Then the pandemic hit and Roman stepped away for health concerns.

He returned at SummerSlam that year more aggressive, more confident, and a consultant by the name of Paul Heyman by his side. Since then he has been on a tear as The Tribal Chief. The Bloodline has been the best thing in WWE for about 2 years now.

Evidently during his time away he found his groove, found that Edge, worked on his promo and psychology skills and has become thee man. For as much flak Vince McMahon gets especially with creative direction as he got older, we have to applaud him for seeing something in Roman and not giving up on him.

On the same token we have to applaud Roman, for taking the criticism and jeers to work harder. For convincing the 'E to let him return as a heel. Improving his in-ring abilities (honestly has he had a bad match since returning?) For making it all work and now having people fully invested in him and his actions.

It may not seem like it but Roman worked hard to get to where he is at now. As our Tribal Chief we must acknowledge the great work he has put in. We owe a apology to Roman Regins.
