September Random Rants
Another month has flown by and I'm a few days behind posting September's rant. Sometimes you just get caught up in life and time creeps by.
WWE FastLane is this Saturday Night, I will likely miss it live since I have a event to attend. It did get me thinking though.
While I enjoy Saturday night events way more than Sunday nights at this point in my life. I'm hoping a tide shifts to every once in a while a event is held Saturday afternoon around 3:00 PM. Sometimes it's getting hard to stay awake after 10 to finish these PPVs/PLE's.
WWE and AEW do it when they are overseas because they have no choice due to the time difference. NXT has held events in the afternoon during Mania weekend. Let's think outside the box and try it for a random event just cause.
While we're on PLE's, I think it's a scam WWE is trying to get cities to bid and offer subsidies on each PLE. That really only works on the big four in my opinion, as most secondary PLE's are very hit or miss. If the goal is to have cities pay you or offer some type of subsidie to bring PLE's there, then each one needs to be an "event" honestly. A true can't miss card.
People need a reason to visit these cities and the cities need a return on their investment.
WWE signs a new $1.4 Billion 5 year deal for Smackdown to return to USA network on Friday nights starting October 2024, while implying RAW and NXT will be leaving USA.
Now, NXT I don't care either way they fly but RAW leaving the USA network just doesn't sit right especially if a new home move's them off Monday's. Other than the 5 years RAW was on TNN/Spike TV it is synonymous with the USA network through several ownership changes which is remarkable. WWE maybe inflating it's asking price for RAW which someone other than NBCUniversal maybe willing to pay for. Money talk's so we shall see what happens.
WWE also touted in their deal, four "prime time" specials will air on NBC each year of the deal. Now I'm wondering if by "prime time" they mean during a weeknight, because of course NBC use to air Saturday Night's Main Event back in the 80's. Then from 2006-2008 WWE bought Saturday Night's Main Event a handful of times per year as NBC specials.
On top of news about the new deal with USA network, WWE announced that same day they released some members of the roster. Now honestly looking at the list, I don't forsee many of the wrestler's released staying in pro wrestling much longer. Emma is very talented, but has never really found a character that fans cared about (her dancing Emma not counting.). Her social media platform may allow her to become a world traveler influencer while preparing for her wedding to Riddick Moss.
I think Dolph and Shelton may move on, Dolph especially will try his hand at stand up. Elias seems ready to move on in life as well. Dana Brooke may get an opportunity based off her time in the E but idk if anyone would seriously consider picking her up.
Mustafa Ali seems to be the only one I think may get picked up by AEW (likely to get lost in the shuffle) or Impact (could be a good world champion there). Aliyah I could see maybe going to Impact as well but I think that is it.
I'm intrigued by the sudden dissatisfaction from Bobby Lashley with the Street Profits one week. Then the following week they attacked the LWO with some serious aggression.
In the storyline it seems they still aren't serious enough for him and I agree. It's about time The Street Profits stop using the solo red cups.
Whoever came up with the idea of pre-recorded promos from Shinsuke is a genius. It get's to the point and is effective, which is all we as fans ask for. It also hides his limitations of cutting a promo while getting his point across.
This version of Shinsuke may finally be a WWE World Champion.
The ending of Dynamite last week was interesting with the group of men attacking Jay White. I'm sure the mystery of who it is will get dragged out, but I hope whoever is behind the mask is well worth the wait.
Continued kudos to Toni Storm's new persona, the black and white entrance really accentuates the character. Kudos all around for whoever pitched it and Toni for taking the ball and running with it.
MLW is entering into a working agreement with New Japan and CMLL. Which I don't necessarily think will bring significant growth to the company, but will help their exposure.
Depending on their talent exchange agreement. It will help fans see some new wrestlers first hand.
I do wish I had more time to keep up with MLW. They have a talented roster, quality cards and always manage to find hidden gems.
Since I'm some days behind I'm going to stop here with my random rant for September. Until next time, enjoy spooky season, stay safe, and go O's!
