Where Are The Monster's In Wrestling?

26 years ago this month the Big Red Machine known as Kane debuted in the WWF. A true "monster" in the world of wrestling. Debuting as a disfigured lonely mute behind a mask, he eventually evolved into a cackling madman. His "scars" were mental more than physical and that made him more dangerous. For a long time he was a walking wrecking machine destroying anything in his sight.

Which leads to something I'd like to point out is missing, the true unapologetic Monster in the pro wrestling world. Along with the intimidators and larger than life characters. A true monster has a place in pro wrestling.

One that wrecks havoc and causes damage, with the sole intention of hurting any and everyone he can. Kane did it best in his early years manhandling fellow wrestlers and even setting folks on fire.

There's no need to go that far, but fans need someone that legitimately invokes fear in them when they hit the ring. Braun Strowman claims to be a monster among men but he just doesn't cut it for me. Mads Krueger formerly of  MLW was probably the closest thing but honestly didn't get the shine because he was in MLW.

Bray Wyatt (R.I.P.) as the Fiend had potential but the Fiend got too supernatural without really wrecking havoc. Often losing matches disrupting the mystic of being a true monster.

The closest thing we have right now is probably PCO or Luchasaurus. Luchasaurus really just took on the monster moniker when he turn on Jungleboy and aligned with Christian. While PCO isn't really a "monster" he's a Frankenstein like character that just won't quit and can be bought back to "life" once he's defeated. He however does not seek out to destroy his opponents at all costs.

The fan appetite is there, so pro wrestling promoters bring back that Monster who is almost indestructible, who aims to seek and destroy. Leaving a car wreck of bodies every time he is in the ring.

We need the Age Of Monsters in Pro Wrestling to return.
