5 Of My Favorite Survivor Series Teams
Once upon a time in the WWF/E land, when Survivor Series rolled around and teams were assembled there was a purpose behind the teams coming together. Whether it fit the storyline narrative or were just a group of individuals aligning against a common enemy, a rhyme and reason was given. Within the past 20 years or so, random teams were thrown together just to satisfy the Survivor Series theme. If that wasn't the case, then teams were thrown together for "brand supremacy" during the brand splits.
With that in mind, I took a look back at things and came up with 5 of the my favorite Survivor Series teams of the past 30 plus years.
5. The Hart Family
Survivor Series 1993, Bret Hart is in the midst of a feud against Jerry The King Lawler. (Fill in later) when it's time to assemble a team. Who else to call on to watch your back, than the guys you grew up with? Bret Hart calls on his brothers Bruce, Ross, and Owen to go to battle against Shawn Michaels (replacing Jerry Lawler) and three non-descript "Knights".
It was a weird situation in why Michaels ended up replacing Jerry Lawler, but that didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. What mattered was that this match set the foundation for Bret and Owen Hart's feud to kick off in 1994. Still as a very technical in-ring style family, they were a pretty good team.
4. The Million Dollar Team
3. Team Andre
This legendary team during the inaugural Survivor Series consisted of One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, Butch Reed, Rick Rude, and one Andre The Giant. Full of hosses and powerhouses, the team were led by Bobby The Brain Heenan as members of the Heenan Family, their quest just like most heels quest during that time was to destroy Hulk Hogan at all costs.
This group were a united front bought together with one goal in mind. They succeeded in defeating Hogan's team to win their survivor series matchup. That's what a survivor series team should be all about.
2. Team Guerrero
1. Team WWF
Survivor Series 2001 Team WWF vs Team Alliance, this one folks was for all the marbles. For anyone not too familiar with The Invasion storyline real quick backstory. In the summer of 2001 Shane and Stephanie McMahon led former members of WCW and ECW in an effort to overtake the WWF. They even managed to convince Stone Cold Steve Austin and Kurt Angle to join their crusade.
In return Vince McMahon compiled his team of The Rock, Chris Jericho, Big Show, The Undertaker, and Kane. All five of these men were pillars of the attitude era.
