How To Best Use CM Punk In The WWE

A day most wrestling fans thought they would never see happened yesterday at Survivor Series. CM Punk returned to the WWE after a nearly ten year bitter divorce. Soon as the opening riff to Cult of Personality played the All State Arena erupted to a level I haven't heard in years, as CM Punk walked down the aisle and soaked in the atmosphere. The electricity in that building was more profound than when he debuted in Chicago for AEW in 2021. Punk looked well rested and ready to go.

I'm sure he will get a similar reaction when his music plays over the PA system during Raw in Nashville. Once he gets the mic in his hand to tell his story, I'm sure the cheers will get louder as he talks and proclaims why he returned to the WWE and what his mission is.

Love him or hate him, call him brash or extra. Full of drama or even a "cancer" there's no denying CM Punk is a draw and he just has a quality about them that people gravitate towards him. Once he proclaims why he came back, the next big question in my opinion will be how to best use him?

To me at this point in his career just turning 45 years old in October, even though he doesn't have as much mileage due to his time away from the ring. He is prone to nagging injuries occurring the more he wrestles and has to be careful about pushing his limits. Like most of us he turns into a different person when he is exhausted and burnt out. To avoid that and make his comeback feel even more special.

He should be used on a part time basis much like Brock Lesnar as a special attraction only. Not consistently on TV week to week, only involved in feuds that serve a purpose. When his story has been told, he steps away until it's time for the next matchup. It doesn't have to be during the seasons of the big 4 (Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series). If the timing is played right, he could be used mainly for those secondary events to keep them interesting.

In the end it's up to WWE and Punk how he will be used, but if it was me this is how I would do it. Either way I'm buckling up and going along for the ride.
