The Rock & Cena: A Partnership We Didnt Know We Needed
Last night at Elimination Chamber John Cena shocked the world, when he attacked Cody Rhodes and sided with The Rock. Something fan's have been clamoring for the last 15 years finally happened. And honestly Travis Scott awkward involvement aside, it could not have happened any better.
Fans particulary Gen Z who grew up during the Super Cena era, were riding the nostalgia wave. Ready to celebrate Cena and all he has done for his retirement tour. Within a blink of a eye he crushed everyone's hopes and dreams.
I am all here for it and now am very anxious to ride this wave on the road to Wrestlemania. In particular I'm looking forward to the duo of The Rock and John Cena, two pro wrestling legends who have successfully crossed over into Hollywood. And I'm hoping WWE uses that as a basis for why they have partnered up.
Remember back during their feud in the early 2010's, which at times got personal. Cena called out The Rock for leaving for Hollywood and not "loving" the WWE. As Cena aged, wear and tear on his body piled up, and he started getting success in the film industry he walked back his comments.
That could provide a good wrinkle for why he's teaming with The Rock. In that the Final Boss didn't steer him wrong before and won't steer him wrong now. Potential backstory aside just imagine the promos with those two feeding off one another on the same team.
As for Cody, I have a feeling this may open the door for our Tribal Chief to return and back Cody up. Potentially setting up a tag team match which would help Cena and The Rock, limiting both of their time in the ring. And teasing fans for that highly anticipated Rock vs . Roman showdown.
There's so many ways this new path in Cody vs Rock, and Cena's retirement tour can go. I'm all here for it and will have my popcorn ready every step of the way.
