Who Could Be The "Guy" For Impact?

Let me start off by saying I am a huge fan of Impact. Dispute the ups and downs of the organization, it has been very stable for the past 5 years steered by Scott D'Amore and Don Callis (before leaving for AEW) with backing by Anthem Entertainment.

They give guys a chance to show their talents that were hampered in other organizations. They are innovative, always finding new talent. Even though no one wants to admit it a lot of their ideas are swagger jacked by the bigger feds. They have a very talented roster that consistently entertains.

Despite all that Impact does great, there is a stigma from some fans based on previous regimes. There also is one overlooked fact, right now the wrestling industry is suffering from bonafide larger than life wrestlers as a whole.

As great as Impacts roster is, they are lacking that major star..the "one". I previously wrote how I thought  Bray Wyatt could have been that guy for them. WWE rehired him a year after releasing and granted him creative control. Unfortunately the world lost that legend a couple months ago.

I then wrote how CM Punk once his second honeymoon with AEW abruptly ended, potentially could come back to Impact and be the kickstarter they need to gain more fans and viewership.

There is no doubt Impact bringing Trinity on board helped her and them tremendously. She has name value due to her outside endeavors, and people tuned in to see what she will do in Impact. By all accounts her joining Impact has been an success.

With WWE's recent releases I think Dolph Ziggler and Mustafa Ali are big enough names that could potentially bring fans to Impact. Once  they watch Impact to see one of those two they could potentially become hooked on the product.

Ryback though he hasn't wrestled in quite a few years. Is a polarizing enough figure that maybe, just maybe has enough name value that people would tune in just to see what he's up to.

Matt Riddle's non compete with the WWE is up in December. Could he sign with Impact and make a splash in the new year? While I've never been a super huge fan, he is a talented wrestlers. His dopey weed head persona would fit right in with Impact.

He would bring in some eyeballs from his MMA days and of course his WWE run. Matt Riddle as Impact World Champion would get some attention in my opinion.

Maybe Impact is saving some coins to make a play for MJF next year. Now that would be the biggest power play Impact has made thus far if they were to occur. MJF on Impact would certainly become must see TV.

I think in the end he would stay with AEW this next go round. As they say though, never say never.

Don't get me wrong Impact has a great and talented roster, unfortunately for them to get over the hump whatever it maybe. They need someone to be the "star" that they can build around and draw in outside fans. Impact is must watch TV, we just need more people to realize and a can't miss star will help people learn.
