5 Forgotten Sidekick Characters
When Toni Storm began building out her Timeless character. Her act as a Hollywood esque glamour actress was helped with the addition of Luther as her watchful and ever attentive butler. Then Ash By Elegance formerly known as Dana Brooke in WWE debuted in TNA. She had her personal concierge by her side to assist her whatever she needed. Side note, I know it can be annoying, but I actually enjoy the fact he sidesteps any questions about what his name is.
These sidekicks got me thinking about sidekicks in the industry. Just like managers and valets help guide their clients, bodyguard and enforcers protect them. Sidekicks or personal assistants have a role in the world of wrestling too. Which is to help get over the act they are associated with whatever the duty maybe. With that here are 5 sidekicks we've forgotten about.
5. Lamont
I honestly don't believe anyone remembers the Lamont character in WWE. Paired with Ernest The Cat Miller who didn't do much during his time on the roster. Lamont just never made an Impact.
For every Ricardo Rodriguez or Virgil that we remember. There's always quite a few we don't, and Lamont is definitely one of them. Likely due to the fact, he only made a handful of appearances before being dropped from TV and then released. His role as a sidekick wasn't even clearly defined, was he a manservant? a gopher? or just a guy who was around so The Cat gave him a job? We will never know.
4. Mitch
Mitch is another guy people just don't remember and honestly of no fault of their own. He was Simon Diamond's personal ring announcer in ECW and I guess you could say the "leader" of his motley band of Misfits. As Simon had an entire entourage following him on his way to the ring, all of them a tad bit peculiar.
I believe Mitch was also a backstage worker for ECW, and moonlighted as the ring announcer. Which honestly probably paved the way for Ricardo Rodriguez years later. Too bad he didn't make any sort of impact, and was a part of ECW which was a very niche promotion so many either have forgotten him or wasn't even aware of his existence.
3. Babu
Babu was the manservant of the wealthy Tiger Ali Singh during his re-debut in the attitude era. He did whatever Tiger commanded he do, and took a lot of punishment on his behalf. Participating in humiliating acts such as having a fan lick his feet, and another instance where a fan ate tuna and then tongue kissed Babu. It was a low light of the attitude era, and even for that time it did not go over well at all with fans.
Babu was soon replaced by another manservant without a trace of his whereabouts, and soon Tiger Ali Singh was gone. So if you don't remember him at all, don't feel bad.
2. Miss Jones
When Vince Russo took creative control of WCW in the fall of '99 he decided the Nitro Girls as a dance unit were no longer needed. He started to incorporate members of the group into storylines mostly for T&A, Spice became involved in an angle with Madusa and Evan Karagis. Stacy Keibler then named Skye became Miss Hancock standards and practices representative for Turner Stations. Then in 2000 when Russo and Bischoff teamed together to right WCW's ship, they incorporated more Nitro girls into angels. Tygress joined the Filthy Animals, Sharmell became Paisley the valet to The Artist Formerly known As Prince (Iaukea).
One dancer by the name of Chameleon became Miss Jones the assistant to WCW commissioner Ernest The Cat Miller. She helped The Cat stay on task and book matches, helping him along the way to successfully perform his job duties. I think she even participated in a handful of matches during her time in the role. It's a shame she has mostly been forgotten due to WCW's declining popularity and time.
