As The World Turns: The Bloodline
For the past four years WWE has produced a compelling and arguably the greatest storyline in wrestling history, The Bloodline. They have somehow managed to rival any soap opera out there and keep fans engaged every step of the way. I even wrote a few month's ago about the many directions the storyline could go, and the additional player's that may have a role in the story.
As we're on the road to Survivor Series with The OG Bloodline vs Bloodline 2.0 set to face off in WarGames. Long running soap operas find ways to keep the drama unfolding and the stakes realistic. Most of them have story arcs that span seasons or years, which The Bloodline saga has done. I started thinking about the various arcs that have helped this story evolve over the years.
Arc I
In 2020 we started with Roman Reigns returning at Summerslam proclaiming he was the head of the table. Which led to a brief feud between him and Jey Uso which forced Jimmy to pick a side, then while Jimmy was recovering from injury. Jey sided with Roman to become his right-hand man.
Upon Jimmy's return he tried to get Jey to see he was nothing more than a lackey for Roman, but that message fell on deaf ears. Then Jimmy slowly came around and the trio aligned as The Bloodline. This arc ran into early summer 2021.
Arc II
In April of 2022, Sami Zayn started to associate himself with The Bloodline. What was supposed to be a temporary alliance, became a full blown membership into the group. Sami constantly had to prove he was worthy of associating with the group, with initially the only member being accepting of him was Jimmy Uso. Jey Uso, on the other hand could not stand him. Then Sami was finally accepted into the group in September of that year, and Solo Sikoa debuted.
Arc III
On the road to Wrestlemania in early 2024, The Rock returned to WWE and hinted he wanted the long anticipated match with Roman Reigns. Fan response caused WWE to shift the story and The Rock joined the Bloodline instead. Roman lost to Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania XL and disappeared as a disgraced Tribal Chief, while The Rock stepped away vowing to return. In the meantime Solo Sikoa took over as Tribal Chief, kicking Jimmy Uso and starting his own Bloodline. Bringing Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu along to lead a new way.
Arc V
When Paul Heyman was brutally attacked by The Bloodline, we knew it was only a matter of time before Roman Reigns returned. Which he did at Summerslam this year during the bout between Solo and Cody Rhodes. The Original Bloodline slowly mended their relationships and got back together earlier this month. Ready to face off against Bloodline 2.0, yet there is more to the story.
The next arc in the story has a few plot points to iron out. During last weeks Smackdown, when The Original Bloodline watched Bloodline 2.0 make their entrance, Sami took a phone out of his pocket and threw it on the couch. Then after The OG Bloodline was ambushed by Bloodline 2.0 with the help of Bronson Reed, Reigns attempted to call the wiseman and received a number not in service message.
